Weddings at Trinity

We at Trinity believe in Christian marriage and its central place in shaping community and bringing children in to the world, in a secure, nurturing and safe environment. We would love to share with you in preparing for your special day, the service itself and then offering all that Trinity is as a Christian church to help build a strong marriage and, foremost, a family.

Quarterly Marriage Suppers at Trinity

In order to offer consistent and quality preparation for marriage, and support once married, we offer four marriage suppers a year which we ask you to attend. They are in the evening from 7pm-9pm and include a pleasant meal and key talk on one aspect of marriage. Couples preparing and couples recently married join with some Trinity couples for an enjoyable but important evening.

What do Christians believe about marriage? We believe that marriage is a gift from God. In their wedding service a couple make a public declaration of life long commitment to love each other, come what may.

I'm not baptised. I don't attend a church. Can I still get married in church? Yes, none of this precludes you. We are just glad to be asked to share in your special day.

I'm divorced so can I still get married at Trinity? We believe that marriage is for life but we also recognise that some marriages fail. We believe in a God of grace who gives us all a second chance. A discussion with Pastor David will normally result in a green light to be married at Trinity.

Why do we need marriage preparation? You have probably invested a lot of time planning your wedding. The day is important but your marriage should last for the rest of your life. However much you think you know each other, you are still two separate individuals with different backgrounds, personalities, experiences, hope and fears. To help with your preparation, we will give you a book called 'Looking Up the Aisle' which you can work through together and invite you to the marriage suppers in addition to the times when Pastor David will visit you.

You will need to visit the Registrar in our area (Newcastle Civic Centre) You can do this as soon as you like. You will need to make an appointment and take with you birth certificates, and a Decree Absolute if divorced. There is a charge for this and after three weeks you can return to get a blue form, which gives Trinity permission to marry you.

Should we have one or two rings? A wedding ring is a symbol of unending love and faithfulness and of the commitment you are making to each other. It is entirely up to you whether you have one or two rings.

Can I marry in any other colour than white? Yes!

Can I have a recording made of the service?

Subject to some practical constraints, yes.

Will there be a rehearsal?

Yes, this is usually the night before and all the main participants should be present.

What about flowers?

You can either provide your own or engage a florist. The flower team at Trinity would also be happy to help with this at a reasonable extra charge (see costs)

Can we marry on any day?

Yes provided the church is free and the person officiating is available.

Can we be involved in planning the service?

Yes, it's your day and with the exception of the legal requirements we would love for you to shape the service. We can provide suggestions for hymns and readings. You may want someone to sing, read something special or be involved in the prayers. You may want to use a CD track for entry or exit or whilst you are signing the register. The possibilities are endless.

Can we help with your reception?

Absolutely! We have superb modern facilities enabling us to cater for a reception for up to 120. Our Catering Manager would love to speak to you about how we can help. (please ask for our wedding brochure).
