The Church on the Gosforth High Street
Service of Celebration
After almost two years of redevelopment, Trinity Church, Gosforth re-opened the doors to its High Street home on 1 March 2008 with a special service of celebration and rededication.
Ministers past and present conducted the service which included first hand accounts of the history of Trinity Church since its inception. The message was provided by Rev Dr David Cornick, General Secretary of the United Reformed Church in the UK.
Sunday services hereafter are at 10.30am and 6.30pm.
The Trinity Project
Trinity Church, at the heart of the £3.25 million development that is Trinity Centre, was formed in 2000 when the three congregations on Gosforth High Street joined forces to provide an active, outward looking Christian base for the area. Believed to be one of the largest expansions of a church in the UK, the first class community facilities and cafe complement the new modern worship space.
Pastor David Bedford of Trinity Church said "This saw the culmination of 8 years of prayer and hard work to ensure the Christian community in Gosforth moves into the 21st century and remains relevant to people's lives. In creating a contemporary worship space, alongside a number of services that will be offered by the entire centre, we have moved out of our comfort zone to try and meet the very modern needs of our local community."
The Café and other Facilities
Trinity Centre is accessible to everyone in the surrounding area, providing amenities for community and leisure groups in addition to offering first class conference facilities for local businesses. Younger children are catered for with dedicated menus in the cafe, an under-5s room and a secure garden while teenagers are at home in the dedicated youth room.
Trinity Cafe brings a new dining experience to the area with quality, locally sourced produce embracing the slow food movement. From a coffee with friends to a long lunch, the café promises a warm welcome and relaxing environment.
